Insurance was a central topic at ICAO's AAM Symposium

In September, over 1,400 delegates gathered at the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) Montréal Headquarters for the 2024 Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Symposium, the first-ever ICAO event fully dedicated to the global adoption of AAM. The primary focus was on improving people’s lives and benefitting communities, with the insurance industry highlighted as a key enabler.

Summarising some of the insurance-related sessions during the week, Mr. Pascal Luciani, Deputy Director of Air Navigation and Aviation Safety at ICAO, emphasised the role of insurers in his closing address:

ICAO’s Symposium served as a reminder that AAM is not fundamentally about futuristic flying machines but about achieving positive human outcomes through innovative aircraft. Insurers play a pivotal role in enabling this movement, strengthened by deep expertise in the technology and the ability to develop insurance products that meet clients’ evolving needs.
